Government wants to declare States' chiefs, temporary centers on consensus: Minister Basnet

Kathmandu, Minister for Information and Communications Mohan Bahadur Basnet has said the government has been making efforts to finalise names of chiefs of States and their temporary centres on the basis of consensus of all political parties if possible.

Talking to RSS at his office Sunday, the Minister said the government wanted to take decisions based on political consensus if possible. "The meeting of the Council of Ministers may not take place tomorrow provided that the consensus was not forged," he said.

According to him, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is in consultations with other political leaders to seek their consent on the matter.
There had been a delay in taking decisions on the issues as the government tried to win confidence of all political parties as they all had contributions to the constitution drafting. However, the government was not in mood to wait for a long to decide, he added.

He took the time to reiterate the government was eagerly waiting the moments to hand over leadership after the completion of all constitutional processes. The government was not in the position to quit before the National Assembly election fixed for February 7. (RSS)
